Inaugurant notre collection "Archives" consacrée aux pratiques curatoriales et à l'histoire des expositions, ces titres constituent des témoignages uniques sur deux expositions fondatrices de la scène artistique actuelle, présentant les œuvres et les artistes exposés, les commissaires de chacune des éditions ainsi que les débats ayant animé leurs préparations et leurs inaugurations. "Documenta 4" donne notamment la parole à Sol LeWitt, Joseph Beuys, Martial Raysse et Edward Kienholz, tandis que "Documenta 5", organisée par la figure tutélaire d'Harald Szeemann, s'intéresse entre autres à Marcel Broodthaers, Christian Boltanski, Arnulf Rainer, Claes Oldenburg et Ed Ruscha

Jef Cornelis a travaillé comme réalisateur à la VRT, la radio et télévision belge néerlandophone. En 35 ans, il a réalisé plus de 200 films sur l’architecture, les arts plastiques et la littérature.
Yves Aupetitallot est historien de l'art, commissaire d'exposition et directeur du Magasin, Grenoble.

Ericka Beckman, "The Super-8 Trilogy", 1979-1980, Édité par Lionel Bovier. Édition anglaise

Ericka Beckman commence à réaliser des films sonores en Super-8 à la fin des années 1970. Ni documentaire ni narrative, ces œuvres, comme l’indique J. Hoberman, apparaissent comme "des cartoons primitifs, des allégories énigmatiques, dynamiques, porteuses de violence comique, d'imagerie sexuelle, de jeux perceptuels et d'effets optiques ingénieux."

Cette première anthologie rassemble trois films des années 1979-1980, réalisées suite aux études de l'artiste à CalArts (Californie).

In Spring 2012, bdv (bureau des vidéos) will publish three new titles

Jef Cornelis, "Documenta 4," 1968 and "Documenta 5," 1972, Edited and introduced by Yves Aupetitallot. English/French edition

Inaugurating our “Archives” collection dedicated to curatorial practices and exhibition history, these titles constitute unique accounts of two exhibitions which were seminal to current contemporary art practices. They present the artists and the exhibited works, the curators of each Documenta as well as the debates that animated the preparation and opening of these exhibitions. In "Documenta 4" we hear from Sol LeWitt, Joseph Beuys, Martial Raysse, and Edward Kienholz, meanwhile "Documenta 5," curated by “master–curator” Harald Szeeman, shows among others, Marcel Broodthaers, Christian Boltanski, Arnulf Rainer, Claes Oldenburg, and Ed Ruscha.

Jef Cornelis mainly worked for VRT, the Flemish Belgian national television. Over 35 years he realized more than 200 films on architecture, literature, and the arts.
Yves Aupetitallot is an art historian, curator, and director of Le Magasin, Grenoble.

Ericka Beckman, "The Super-8 Trilogy", 1979-1980, Edited by Lionel Bovier. English edition

Beckman began making films in the mid-1970s using Super-8 sound film. Neither documentaries nor narratives, these works, as J. Hoberman puts it, are “like primitive cartoons ... enigmatic allegories filled with nervous activity and comic violence, sexual imagery ... perceptual game­ playing and ingenious optical effects.”

This first anthology brings together three pieces from 1979–1980, made after her CalArts studies and featuring many other artists as actors.
